Launch of Heart Felt Exhibition in Hobart on 9/8/05

The Heart Felt Exhibition will be launched on the 9/8/05 in Hobart by Hon David Lewellyn, Deputy Premier of Tasmania. The exhibition features drawings and stories of children who have experienced abuse and family violence.It is a powerful and evocaitve collection about trauma, recovery and hope. July 2004 Tasmanian professional workshops on responding to abuse related trauma in young people announced

Entitled “The vulnerable Self – Working with abuse related trauma in children and young people”, these workshops explore the consequences of abuse and family violence on the development of a child’s sense of self, relationships, confidence and abilities. Participants will have the opportunity to develop enhanced skills in working with children who have experienced abuse and trauma and explore strategies to promote their recovery. This workshop will promote participants’ skills and knowledge in understanding, communicating with and responding to children who have experienced abuse or family violence.

The one day workshops are scheduled for Hobart on the 14 July 2004 and Devonport on the 16 July, 2004. Each workshop costs $25 per person.
  

Tasmanian community attitude tracking research to be released to coincide with launch of campaign on 5 May 2004

A survey of 250 Tasmanians was conducted by the Australian Childhood Foundation in partnership with Quantum Market Research and the National Research Centre for the Prevention of Child Abuse at Monash University. The survey examined the understanding and views of the Tasmanian community in relation to child abuse and child protection.
  

Launch of new child abuse prevention campaign in Hobart on 5 May 2004

The "Child abuse hurts us all" campaign is a major new community education and awareness initiative developed by the Australian Childhood Foundation in conjunction with the National Research Centre for the Prevention of Child Abuse at Monash University. It has been funded and supported by the Tasmanian Government and will be implemented in Tasmania throughout 2004- 2005. It will also establish the impetus for a future national roll out.
